Speaking & Leadership Blog Round-up: Posts that Shouldn't Be Missed!
Building relationships is all about sharing the love. I've read some great blogs over the past few weeks that have greatly benefited me in my own speaking and coaching. I think they can benefit the relationships you are building as a speaker and leader too.
From Rich Hopkins – Stillness: A Speaker's Place of Power
My biggest pet peeve in presentations is a speaker who wanders the stage. There is something very compelling about a speaker who can be still. In my opinion, speakers don't think enough about what movement while speaking and what it says about the relationship the speaker has with an audience. Rich gives one of the best explanations that I have ever read about how to use a stage and what movements on a stage communicates to an audience.
From Lisa Braithwaite – What's the Relationship Between Confidence and Nervousness?
Over the past week, I've been asked this question multiple times: “How do I get over my nervousness when I'm speaking?” The quick answer is that you don't! I've given over 1000 speeches in my life, I still get nervous. Lisa tackles this topic with a genuine, personal response (and video). Her explanation of the difference between nervousness and confidence is a great source of inspiration for those just finding their speaking voice and for those who have given many presentations.
From Geoffery James – Bad Boss? 7 Management Moves to Avoid
Everyone who manages or aspires to manage needs to read this article. It's not so much about management move but relationships moves that erode trust between employees and their leaders. My biggest takeaway from this article – managers need to be transparent, clear, and honest when dealing with their employees.
From Lauren Hug – Inspiration for Personal Brand Attributes…Pinterest
Pinterest is the latest Internet rage. I recently joined and now I have no idea what to do. Pinterest should be a great relationship building opportunity, but I have no idea how to use it. Lauren outlines how you can use Pinterest to explore and promote your personal brand. Lauren also writes about how to find your public speaking personality and using her suggestions can help you use Pinterest for that too.
As a new blogger, I am astounded by all the great information out there that is produced by great people. Have you read something that inspired you this week? Please post the articles in the comment section. I'd love to read your inspiration!
