Why you should add speaking to your business mix
You listen to this podcast or read this blog because you're interested in speaking.
You want to be booking more speaking gigs. You want to become a better speaker and improve the experience the audience has with you.
Yet there might be this little niggling feeling that you're not 100% committed to adding speaking into your business mix.
You're just not sure if it's the best move for your business.
This month we are featuring listener questions on the Rebel Speaker Podcast and Shawn Fink of the Abundant Mama asks “why should I add speaking to my business?”
Here are five reasons why you should consider adding speaking to your business mix.

#1 You LOVE to Speak
The first reason you should add speaking to your business mix is a ”Captain Obvious” one.
You love speaking. You love being on stage. You love the energy exchange between you and the audience. You love stepping off the stage and having people come up to you and tell you their story and how your message impacted them.
Not only that, you want to master the art of speaking. You're determined to get better so that you can touch more people's lives.
So if you do not love speaking then you probably shouldn't add it to your business. But if you love it, then that is the foundation for everything in speaking.
#2 Been Seen as the Expert in Your Field
You want to be seen as the expert in what you do.
You have this body of work. You have this knowledge that you want to share. One of the best ways to establish your expertise and be seen as an authority is speaking.
You will increase your influence when you start speaking more.
If establishing your expertise and being seen as the expert on your topic is important to you, then speaking is a great thing to add to your business.
#3 Exponentially Increase Your Impact & Influence
Most of the clients that I work with are currently working one-on-one or doing small group programs.
Their work is amazing. It's transformational. They're getting great results.
But there comes a time when they want to take the good work that they're doing to a bigger audience.
They want to impact more people, 500 people this year but they have their sights on impacting a million or 12 million people with their message.
Speaking is the path to exponentially increase your impact.
If you want to make a bigger difference in this world and do more good work, then adding speaking to your business mix makes perfect sense.
#4 Add Another Stream of Revenue to Your Business
Now, if you are a coach, a small business owner, a consultant, you probably are doing a lot of project based work or retainer work or one-on-one work and speaking is a way to scale your business.
Speaking is a way to replace some of that one-on-one intensive work with another stream of income. If you want to add more revenue to your business, speaking is an excellent way to do that.
#5 You’re Ready for High Profile, High Status Speaking Gigs
A few weeks ago in the Rebel Speaker Facebook group and in the CoCommercial Lab that Tara Gentile hosts, I asked a question about fame versus impact.
Most people want to increase their impact. To do that, you have to raise your profile.
You have to be on those high status stages and commanding the fee that goes along with it.
When you're ready to make that move, speaking is a natural venue. If you think of people like Seth Godin or Elizabeth Gilbert, they are making a bigger impact in this world because they are also speakers.
So there you have it. Five reasons why you should add speaking to your business mix.
