Building Relationships at Relationally Speaking
Over cocktails, a friend of mine said something dreadful to me: “You need to do a video blog.”
Like most people, I hate watching myself on film. It's painful, and I find myself having to trample down the demon of self-critique.
My friend told me that if I am writing a blog about building relationships, I need to get over myself. The best way for me to build a relationship with the readers is allowing them to see and hear me speak.
Viola!
Here is my first video blog explaining a bit about the philosophy behind Relationally Speaking and the results you can expect from following this blog.
Is the occasional video blog a good way to reach you? Please leave comments below or on my new Facebook page for Relationally Speaking. If you hated the video, I can also give you the email address of my friend who suggested it! Kidding (maybe).
I look forward to hearing from you!
This is an easy intro into the idea of not only the words you say but how you say it and the way you present yourself and intentions. Valuable for all of us. Not only for work environments but all interpersonal relationships.
I absolutely agree – the relational message is very important in our interpersonal relationships. Thank you for watching and for commenting!
A good post. The videos are a good idea. Since your blog is about speaking, you need to show that you can speak. It gives your posts credibility. I am looking forward to more to come.
Mark, I couldn't agree more. I didn't think about the credibility aspect and videos can show that I can walk the talk. Thank you for your comment and support!
