Take Your Speech from “That’s entertaining” to “How can I hire you?”: Tracey Warren Case Study
Does this sound like you?
Me: “Tracey, why don't you tell me a little bit about your speaking career before we worked together?”
Tracey: “First of all, calling it a career is very generous of you.”
Although most of my clients, just like you and Tracey, wouldn’t lead with describing themselves as having a speaking career, they are all looking to get paid to speak and have a positive outcome when they step on stage. They are subject matter experts in their particular field, but they haven’t quite figured out their Unfair Speaking Advantage—the key to being a highly regarded, must-book, well-paid speaker.
So, they call me!

Too Many Tactics, Not Enough Business
Tracey Warren is the expert behind The Social Playground, a marketing consulting firm that specializes in social media. Before she started her business, she was a corporate trainer with Avon. Whenever she took the stage on behalf of Avon, she was handed a script that she would then modify to make it her own.
Once she started her own business, she started speaking a lot more. Although she’s always been pretty good off the cuff, she soon realized “off the cuff” wasn’t leading to more business or more speaking gigs.
So, she started outlining her talk. What her speaking needed was more focus, right? But she “was just dumping way too many tactics on people.”
Even though she was speaking everywhere and received positive feedback (positive feedback doesn’t get you squat or pay the bills), she realized she wasn’t hitting the mark.
How did she know? Nobody signed on to work with her. Instead of being inspired to work with her, her audiences were left with a lengthy to-do list, feeling overwhelmed with thoughts of “Wow. Okay, I have a lot of stuff to work on,” rather than “Wow. How can Tracey help me?”
Time to Call in the Big Guns when Time Is of the Essence
“I knew that so much more was possible for me if I had some help from someone who really knew what they were talking about,” Tracey said about calling me to get help with her Signature Talk. (Oh, and that she knew I was awesome, of course!)
There’s no magic elixir when you work with me to craft your Signature Talk, but, as Tracey found out, sometimes the most economical thing for your time and money is to hire someone to help you out. My clients get the benefit of my knowledge and my expertise without enduring the pain I went through to acquire them.
“If I’d have given myself another two years, I probably could have figured out, eventually, everything I learned from you, but I didn’t have two years to wait,” Tracey explained.
Just think how many opportunities you would miss out on during that time you try to figure it out on your own, when you could sign up for my 7-week accelerator and get ‘er done!
And here’s your public service announcement: Stand clear of those fools who “want to tell you a little secret” on how to earn bazillions of dollars by following their fill-in-the-BLANK formula. Ewww, gross!

Post Accelerator (PA)
The first thing Tracey noticed P, was that after she gave her Signature Talk, people started to say, “Wow, now I want to work with you,” rather than “Wow. That was amazing.”
And the other outcome of Tracey’s time and effort in the Accelerator was that she was EXCITED to give her talk!
And Tracey’s not the only one who noticed a difference in her speaking since she went to accelerator.
“The feedback I have received has been amazing. One friend said, ‘Tracey, I’ve heard you speak a lot. That was the most amazing you’ve ever done. Your stories made sense, you stayed on track.’”
I even got a new client from somebody who had seen Tracey speak multiple times before and noticed the difference. She knew Tracey had been working with me, and she was like, “Wow. I want the same kind of transformation. Tracey was so on fire. She was so passionate. She was so on target and on message, and I could tell she was loving every minute of it. That’s what I want!”
